QUINN, Alfred - With his loving family by his side, Alfred (Alfie) Quinn, peacefully passed away at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on July 18, 2016 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife Betty, children Curtis Quinn (Rhonda) of Coquitlam BC, Debbie Quinn, Ellen (Herman) Phinney, Fay (Gord) Rule, Graham (Robin) Quinn of Winnipeg MB, and Harold (Joann) Quinn of Tampa Fl. Grandchildren Victoria, Steven, Richard, Randi, Myles, Jordan, Chelsea, Tanner, Jason and Ean. Brother Trevor (Norma), Sister-in-law Blanche, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Alf and Betty celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last Dec 2015. He was born and grew up in Indian Head, Sask. In Grade 8 he started his first job there at the hardware store. After graduating from Grade 12; he took a job as a teacher at a country school. He moved to Lac du Bonnet, MB just before his 21st birthday in 1950 as the movie projectionist of Walberg theatre. That job he did at night while during the day he was a bookkeeper at Beaver Lumber. Alf met Betty in Lac du Bonnet where they got married in 1952 and then moved to Keewatin, ON in 1954. Alf continued his career as a projectionist at the Wright Theatre. Over his time in the Keewatin area he was also a projectionist at the Famous Players movie theatre in Kenora and started his electrical career at the Keewatin Hardware store. He was later hired on as a Ontario Hydro inspector in 1972. After working for 21 years he retired from this career in 1993. Alf also spent time as a member with the Kinsmen club and a member of St. Andrew's United Church where he played the organ, sang in the choir and served on the board. He volunteered at Pinecrest in the Tuck shop, delivered Meals & Wheels and was a member of the Keewatin Legion. Alf travelled a lot when he worked and after in retirement with his wife Betty. They travelled to England, Hawaii, Alaska and many other places visiting family and friends. Alf's Legacy is his family, caring for them, and for others. We would like to thank the staff at Pinecrest Home for taking care of Alf since Nov 2015. We also would like to thank the Lake of the Woods District Hospital & the Thunder Bay General Hospital for caring for Alf, our Dad; when he struggled with health issues. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Andrews's United Church PO Box 608, Keewatin, ON P0X1C0; Lake of the Woods District Hospital; or Pinecrest. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 6, 2016 at 11am at St. Andrew's United Church in Keewatin.
