FLYNN, Michael Dennis - 31 July 1946 - 26 March 2016 - A man of great love, compassion, faith and forgiveness: A husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who left us to begin his new mission with God, greeted by his son, Ryan and his parents, Joe and Betty Flynn and Joe and Tess Kraftchick and his sisters Mary Geraldine, Cathaleen Mavourneen and Patty Kraftchick. While most of us were suffering through our own Lenten journeys, Mike spent the last 45 days at Lisaard House, Cambridge preparing all of us for this new beginning. Fittingly he died during the Easter weekend - a time to recognize the importance of death as part of our own renewal and healing. Born in Toronto on July 31, 1946, to Joe and Betty Flynn, Mike moved with his family in 1948 and spent his childhood in Kitchener. During his early adulthood he spent time exploring his faith and helping struggling communities across the country. In 1972 he returned to Kitchener and met and married the love of his life, Joanne Kraftchick. Together they have celebrated more than 43 years of love and joy raising their three children, Ryan (1975 - 1999), Brianna and Jonathan. In his professional life, Michael worked in Waterloo and Brantford, leading and managing social services in those communities and eventually returning to his original passion - working as a lay minister at St. Mary's and St. Pius X Churches in Brantford, St. Frances de Sales Church in Washington, D.C. and most recently at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Kitchener. He assisted countless individuals and families in their own faith journeys and has been loved by all those who have connected with him. Michael was also a long-time 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Brantford. In December 2015, Mike was officially welcomed into the Congregation of the Resurrection becoming an Apostle of the Resurrection - a lay organization that worked hand-in-hand with the members of the Congregation to bring hope and light to all those they encountered. Michael leaves his wife Joanne, his daughter Brianna and her husband Kevin and their three children Brevin, Tanner and Kearan, and his son Jonathan (Lisa) and their children Micaela and Oliver. He also leaves his siblings Pat and Noreen, Maureen and Pauline, K.C. and Deb, Larry and Michele, Terry and Stephanie and Sean and Doris; his brothers and sisters-in-law Kathy and Bob McKenney, Peter and Ellen Kraftchick, Michael Kraftchick, and Joseph Kraftchick and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves his many wonderful friends in Brantford and Kitchener-Waterloo who have been at his side through his many successes and struggles over the years. He gave his love and friendship without question to anyone who sought his counsel or support. Friends will be received at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 49 Blueridge Avenue, Kitchener on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Parish prayers on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Kitchener on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. Pius X Church, 9 Waverley Street, Brantford at 1:00 p.m. with a private interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Ronald McDonald House, 1510 Main Street West, Hamilton, Ontario L8S 1E3 would be gratefully appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME , 495 Park Road North, Brantford (519) 758 - 1553 HREF="http://www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca">www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca
