LYONS, Bob (Robert) - 72, of Pincher Creek, Alberta, passed away during the early morning hours of December 30, 2014, in the arms of his wife Karen, with daughter Holly and son Clint at his side. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Alveretta and Dan Lyons and at the age of 5 moved with them to Burbank, California. Bob was always a country boy at heart, working at the Cherokee Dude Ranch in Fort Collins, Colorado for several summers, then at the Alisal Guest Ranch in Santa Ynez, California. He studied agriculture in California and Colorado, and graduated in 1965 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Bob and Karen lived within 2 blocks of each other in Burbank, and their teenage romance resulted in marriage in August 1964. Daughter Holly was born in Burbank, and before she was one year old the three of them hooked up a little trailer and set off for their grand adventure of life in Canada. Bob took a job with the Alberta Department of Agriculture as District Agriculturist, first under Cardston's DA, Del Steed, then opening the first office in Pincher Creek. Son Clint was born at St. Vincent's Hospital, completing the family of four. When Bob retired he began his second career as a beekeeper. He enjoyed his bees so much that he won many North American awards for the quality of the honey. For the past three years, Bob and Karen lived full time in their fifth wheel traveling many miles visiting family, friends and interesting sites across the U.S. and Canada. Bob leaves to greatly mourn his passing his many friends, and most particularly his wife of 50 years, Karen, daughter Holly of Abbotsford and son Clint (Nisa) of Placerville, California. Four grandchildren, Taylor, Cassidy, Delaney and Brody will greatly miss their Grandpa. He always had a hug for his "favorite sister-in-law" Judy Lindsay of Lincoln, California and enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 2:00 P.M. on January 6, 2015 at EDENíS FUNERAL HOME 966 Elm St, Pincher Creek, AB. Flowers are thankfully declined but if you wish, a donation may be made to the Windy Slopes Health Foundation, P.O. Box 2554, Pincher Creek, AB T0K 1W0
We just wanted to send you our thoughts and prayers. We are so sad to hear of Bob's passing. We have so many special memories of time spent with your family and the excitement of taking Lyons honey to wherever we were. It was always a great visit when we would run into him at the farmers markets and getting to hear how you all were. He was so proud of his wonderful family. Love and hugs to you all.
We are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
