GULMEN, Yuksel (nee Okay) - (Retired Professor at Georgian College; A Social Activist; A Local Artist) - It is with great sadness, after a 15 year battle with cancer, Yuksel passed away with her family by her side, at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013, at the age of 64 years. Yuksel, beloved wife and best friend of Tony of Orillia. Loving mother of Bilgi of Orillia. Dear sister of Can and Isil both of Turkey, Sibel of Kingston and their families. The gathering for Yuksel will be held at Apple Annie's, 109 Mississaga St.,E., Orillia on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 5 - 7 pm.. Interment; St. Andrew's - St. James' Cemetery, Orillia. If desired, memorial donations to Cancer research and or any Artistic endeavor. Messages of condolence are welcomed at

I always admired Yuksel. She was passionate and intelligent. Sorry i was not able to see her again.

I grew up in Palm Springs California. Friends have been posting yearbook pages. I found one from 1966 with Yuksel's big smile. I never knew her, though I wanted to find her to say hello. I am sorry it was too late to say so in person.

Friends from Palm Springs say hi and we hope your time in the desert with all of us was memorable.
