MEGER, Patricia Bernice (née Baker) - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Pat Meger at home on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 in her 89th year with her husband and the love of her life by her side. Beloved husband of Ernie for almost 64 years. Cherished mother of Lorna Longhurst (John), Kelly Meger (Lori), Marlene Gibson (Chris), mother-in-law of Cheryl Rienzo-Meger and predeceased by her son Wayne Meger (2013). Adored Nana to her grandchildren; Jennifer Longhurst, Johnny Longhurst, Michele Julie (Kevin), Matthew Meger (Stephanie), Adam Meger (Rachel), Elizabeth Meger, Kevin Gibson (Brad Bureau), Katy Meger (Mike Meade), Karen Meger (Zac Milne), Melissa McKay (Brad), Christopher Spittal (Alaura). Loving Great-Nana to her beautiful great-grandchildren; Cole, Lucy and Annie Meger, Harper McKay, Lily Meger, Ayden & Rhegan Longhurst, Ella & Lincoln Spittal and predeceased by Joey (2000). Predeceased by her parents William Baker (1963) and Cecilia Baker (1984). Pat is survived by her brother Glendon Baker, brothers-in-law Paul Meger, Walter Meger, Ed Meger (Nancy) and sisters-in-law Ann Meger and Alice Meger and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Pat was born in Brantford, Ontario on November 24, 1929. Her family settled in Ridgeway for many years before moving to Niagara Falls in the 1940's. Pat married Ernie on June 19th, 1954 at St. Paul's church in Niagara Falls. Pat worked as a cashier for many years at Miracle Mart and A&P before retiring in the 1980's. Pat was an avid golfer for many years with a phenomenal drive and she could outplay the best of them. Pat & Ernie enjoyed years of traveling to Hawaii, Barbados & Mexico before retiring to winters in Florida for 15 years. Pat lived a long, full life enjoying the things that she loved most. She will be deeply missed by her family. In keeping with Patricia's wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HETHERINGTON & DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL , 5176 Victoria Ave., Niagara Falls, Ontario 905-354-5614, on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. with Memorial Service following in the chapel at 4 p.m. Memorial donations to Ronald McDonald House or Arthritis Society would be appreciated.
