BAIN , Laura Amy - (89) passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2017 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. She was born in Toronto on January 18, 1928 to Russian immigrants, Boris and Sonja Monsaroff. Her brother, Adolph was 16 years older and predeceased her in 2003. She was raised in Toronto, then Hamilton and met the love of her life, Jim Bain, at Westdale Collegiate. She then went on to graduate in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 1950. She and Jim were married in 1951 and moved to Montreal where they both were employed by Canadair (now Bombardier). Laura eventually got a post grad in Library Science and upon moving to Oakville, worked for many years at the Oakville Public Library. Laura and Jim retired to Collingwood where the two lived and loved life until Jim's death in 2010. Laura continued to volunteer at Collingwood Hospital and their public library until 2016 when she moved to Sherbrooke Heights Retirement Residence in Peterborough. She will be greatly missed by her son, Bruce, and daughter in law, Audrey, and by her two grandchildren, David and Ian. She was a determined, intelligent lady as well as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will all miss you, Mom!
