WALC, Donna (nee Zelek) - 1944 - 2017 With great sadness and regret, Donna passed suddenly on October 4, 2017 in Collingwood. Devoted mother of Dr. Leslie Walc and his wife Jaclyn, and most proud grandma (Babcia) to Azalea, Lucas and Chloe. Cherished sister of the late Maryanne Hrycanuk and husband Johnny, Susan Burak and late husband Lawrence and Dr. Walter Zelek and wife Daiga. Loving aunt and great-aunt. Donna cherished her career as teacher and VP educator for elementary students with the Etobicoke Board of Education. Upon retirement she lived in Collingwood and was a Snowbird at Maple Leaf Village in Port Charlotte, Florida. Donna enjoyed an active lifestyle and was a vibrant participant in tennis clubs, Probus Club, book clubs and sporting events. Her quest for adventure took her to Poland, Greece and China. Donna lived life to the fullest! A kind generous friend, full of life, a Treasure we will miss dearly. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club, 706 Tenth Line, Collingwood, Ontario. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, cgmh.on.ca or My Friends House Collingwood Shelter myfriendshouse.ca. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Treasured Memories

Our heartfelt condolences go out to all of Donna's family members. It is difficult knowing Donna will no longer be a physical presence in all the activities we shared. Her cheerful personality and fun stories will truly be missed as will her infectious enthusiasm for getting us dressed appropriately from her stash of dress-up costumes. She so loved a theme party! Her death leaves a hole in our hearts but the fun memories she gave us live on.

I only knew Donna for two years but she helped us to get settled in Collingwood, directed us to the Gateway Probus Club and we enjoyed several social get-togethers. She was a willing listener and helper. She will be missed, but her memory treasured always, by so many.
