Paul Ellis, M.D., F.R.C.P.C. Slater

SLATER, Paul Ellis, M.D., F.R.C.P.C. - Born June 23, 1923, died peacefully at University Hospital in London, ON February 14, 2015. A graduate of the Medical School of University of Western Ontario, he served at St. Joseph’s, Victoria, and University Hospitals in London as an anesthesiologist and became a professor of his specialty at UWO. Paul was a devoted, adoring husband to his beloved wife of 67 years Rosemary P. Slater (Mellon), and a loving father who will be dearly missed by his children Paula Slater (Bernard Sylvest) Owen Sound, ON; Pamela Slater (Larry Wilson) Vancouver, BC; Patti Ann Reynolds (Harry), London, ON; Catherine Robinson (Jeff) Austin, TX; and predeceased daughter Julie and son Paul Slater. Paul was the deeply respected and cherished grandfather of Kate, Abby, Alexandra, Joshua, Daniel and Jason, and brother-in-law to Sister Paulette Mellon, Helen Molloy, predeceased sister Marie Page (Toronto) and members of the Mellon Family. He was a passionate painter and cartoonist, as well as an excellent swimmer and lifeguard at Port Stanley where he met and fell in love with Rosemary, his “Mimi.” His legacy of compassion, gratitude and humor will live on in the hearts and minds of his family, friends, patients, coworkers and caregivers. Much appreciation for the compassionate care of Dr. Kane, Nurse Clinician Christine, OT Mary Anne of Parkwood, and staffs of Henley Place and Prince George Retirement Lucan. I believe this man was my father's (Joseph Slater Brown) 1st cousin. My father still speaks fondly of his boyhood visits to London, which most likely included times with this man and another cousin Bob. Please convey our deepest sympathy to the family and please pass my email along as well as we have lost contact info and would like to stay in touch.
