Herbert D.B. Orgill

ORGILL, Herbert D.B. - November 8, 1921-February 15, 2014. In Peterborough, of pneumonia, beloved husband of Norma (nee Perry) for 66 years. Loving father of Peter (Sara), Sheila Britton, Janet, (Tam) Matthews. Grandfather to Sarah, (Mikkel), Geoffrey, Ainsley, Trevor, and Alison, great Grandfather to Finn. Herb was born in Jamaica and grew up in Toronto where he attended St. Andrew's College and the University of Toronto. After serving in the R.C.A.F., his ancestry drew him to Bobcaygeon to live in the family summer home where he built a successful summer resort and developed lakefront property. He treasured life with his family, gardening, photography, and boating in the Kawartha Lakes. He played a great game of tennis and golf in the summer in Bobcaygeon and each winter, in the little town of Mount Dora, Florida. Herb will be remembered by many, as kind and polite, the consummate gentleman. He will be greatly missed by friends and family. There will be a private family service, and his ashes will be interred in the family plot in Little Lake Cemetery in Peterborough. The family extend their sincere thanks for his excellent care at St. Joseph's at Fleming. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer's Society and the CNIB would be greatly appreciated.12708646

My condolences to the Orgill family on Herb's passing. I have so many fond memories of the Orgill family as a young boy when I worked at the Edgewood Court for Herb.

Herb was such a fine person and so kind myself and my family.

Bob Walker, Bobcaygeon.

A wonderful friendship

To Norma and family, please accept our sincerest condolences. They were wonderful years (94-2001) with Herb. Scraping and painting the Ditchburn, the yard and its grass and leaves, the house and pool, with their electrical needs, painting and cleaning, the cruising and swimming in the channel and lakes, and the use of your workshop and backyard where we worked on our trailer. I learned much from you Herb. I hope I was able to reciprocate in kind. See you in another apace and time.
