Jeffrey “HEWY“ Kenneth Hewson

HEWSON, Jeffrey “HEWY“ Kenneth - (August 15, 1961 - July 12, 2011) It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of Jeff. Survived by his wife and love of his life, Shelley and his much loved daughters, Keli and Erica. He will be sadly missed by his mother Marie Sutton, late father Ken, Brother Craig (Klara), nephew and many nieces, Uncle Al Hewson, mother-in-law Irene McKinley and brother-in-law Larry (Zena). Predeceased by brother-in-law Allen and father-in-law Ross McKinley. Jeff was a proud alumnus of Pauline Johnson Collegiate and Conestoga College. He was well known in the Brantford sports community as a player, coach, referee, 10-year President of the NBC Hockey League and dedicated leader of the Greens at Renton Hockey Club. Jeff was also very well known in the community giving significant time and effort organizing a number of Terry Fox runs; annually chairing the Greens at Renton Golf Tournament and Brantford Oldtimers Hockey Classic Tournament benefiting both our community and directly - the Sunshine Dreams for Kids. A special thank you to Jeff's courageous friends who battled for him when he needed it most. Jeff will live on in others because of his generous gifts as an organ donor. May those individuals live with the same zest for life that Jeff did. Friends will be received on Saturday, July 16th at McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Road North from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. As a motorcycle enthusiast Jeff invites all bikers to join him for one last ride together. Please join us Sunday July 17th at McCleister Funeral Home 12:30 p.m., where motorcycles and cars are invited for our ride to Lions Park where a celebration of Jeff's life will commence at 1:30 p.m. Arrive dressed in comfortable attire suitable for our outside ceremony. A reception to celebrate Jeff's life will follow. Details about the location will be announced. In lieu of flowers a bank account has been established for Jeff's daughters - Keli and Erica. Or if preferred, a donation can be made to the Sunshine Dreams for Kids. Online condolences, donations, service details available at www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca. McCleister 519-758-1553 10344126
