Shirley Frances Caraher

CARAHER, Shirley Frances - Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Bluewater Health, Shirley Frances Caraher (nee Beaton) passed away at the age of 88. Beloved mother of Paul (Nancy), David (Kelly), and John (Esther). Adored grandmother of Brendan, Chelsea, Sarah, Chantal, Andrew, and Lauren. Predeceased by husband Arthur and cherished daughter Colleen. Loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. Shirley started her working career at Dow Chemical and was a dedicated court reporter at the Sarnia Court House; however, her greatest joy in life was caring for her family, especially supporting the many accomplishments of her grandchildren. Shirley loved nothing more than being surrounded by family and friends and ensuring no one left with an empty stomach. Thank you to the staff of Bluewater Health, Fairwinds Lodge, and Bayshore for your care and compassion, in particular her devoted friend and caregiver Lisa Voisey. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, no visitation will be held. A celebration of life will take place at SMITH FUNERAL HOME , 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. In memory of Arthur and Colleen, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques only at the funeral home please). Shirley was our neighbour for many years. She always had a smile to share and a friendly wave. One of the sweetest ladies I've known.
