Arthur Aubrey Brown

BROWN, Arthur Aubrey - (1936 - 2018) Aubrey’s family is heartbroken to announce his tragic death at his winter home in Mexico. Aubrey was born in Holstein, Ontario to Arthur and Eileen Brown. He attended the Holstein Continuation School and Mt. Forest High School. He joined the ROTC and earned his degree in Civil Engineering. He later got his Masters at the University of Alberta in Edmonton while in the Army. Aubrey’s career in the Army took him to many places across Canada and to a posting in Laar, Germany where he met the love of his life, Ruth McDonald from Abbotsford, BC. He retired from the Army in 1974 and began a new career with the Government of British Columbia where he and Ruth and their three children took up residence in Victoria. At this time, he got a second Masters degree in Public Administration at the University of Victoria. Aubrey is survived by his children Michael in Toronto, David (Susan), Victoria and Catherine Sutter (Steve Pelech), Vancouver. He adored and was best friend to his grandchildren Alexander and Christian Sutter, and Ethan and Kellen Brown. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Arlene (Sam) Inglis, Yvonne (Jack d.2015) Gray, and Marilyn (Ross d. 2003) Preston along with many nieces and nephews and Ruth’s family the McDonalds in BC. Aubrey is predeceased by his beloved Ruth in 2002, his parents and a younger brother Floyd. Aubrey often visited his friends and family in Ontario and he will be dearly missed by all of them…we did not get to say goodbye. There will be a Celebration of Life service in the spring along with interment at Maplewood Cemetery. 13321733
