Jeanne Debruyn

DeBRUYN, Jeanne - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018, at Maple Manor, Tillsonburg, with her loving family by her side, Jeanne DeBruyn, formerly of Glen Meyer, in her 98th year. Born in Beveren-Waas, East Flanders, Belgium, daughter of Emiel VanMieghem and Maria Gyse. For many years, Jeanne farmed tobacco in Glen Meyer along with her husband Louis and family. Jeanne and Louis had a mutual passion for archery, and were active in the Tillsonburg and Delhi Archery Clubs. Jeanne excelled to achieve three ladies’ archery championships called “Queens”, making Jeanne what in archery is called an “Empress”, which is a highly successful but rare achievement. Jeanne and Louis were also members of both the Langton MerryMakers and the Tillsonburg JollyMakers. Jeanne was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg. Jeanne was predeceased by her beloved husband Louis Frans DeBruyn on July 5th, 2013. Jeanne was dedicated to her family, including: a son Freddy in Belgium and late Myriam (2006) and their children: Kris and Kim; a son Willy DeBruyn and his wife Lutgarde of Courtland and their children: Derek, Michael, Paul, Julie and Colleen; and a daughter Mary and her husband Ed Ens of Straffordville and their children: David and Lisa; and Jeanne’s 18 great-grandchildren. Survived by her nieces, nephews and cousins in Belgium. Jeanne is predeceased by her three sisters: Paula, Gerarda, and Clothilde. Friends and relatives will be received by the family on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 pm at the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES-BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC. , 262 Broadway St., Tillsonburg (519)842-4238. Vigil Prayers are Thursday evening at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 7th, 2018 at 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg, by Father John Pirt. Interment follows in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
