Eva "Grace" Moar

MOAR, Eva "Grace" - It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Eva "Grace" Moar on October 31, 2018 in her 98th year with her son at her side. She was predeceased by the love of her life Emmerson, infant daughter Wendy, five sisters, five brothers and son-in-law Eugene Bretecher. She continues to live on in the hearts of her children Donna Gordon (Barry), Maline Jenkinson (Cecil), Linda Bretecher (the late Eugene), Ian Moar (Judy), Dawn Radcliffe (Dean). She also leaves to mourn her passing 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was our Amazing Grace. Born in Selkirk, June 18, 1920 she started her adulthood as a waitress at Sinclair's Tea Room where she met Emmerson and was married February 13th, 1942. She was a stay at home mom and office secretary for Moar's Plumbing and Heating. At the ripe age of 56 she learned to drive. In 1980 she joined the workforce at Betel Home in Selkirk. She graduated from their Health Care Aide course and was named Miss Congeniality of her class. She loved working with staff and residents at Betel so much. After retirement she continued to act as an escort for the residents there. Well into her 80's she would walk to Betel and escort residents to doctors, dentists appointments whenever they needed to go. She enjoyed many years curling, doing crosswords, playing cards and having tea with family, neighbours and friends. She spent countless hours as a volunteer with House of Economy sometimes as a Rotary Ann and many times when they needed help. Most of all she loved time with her family. Her last 6 years she resided at Red River Place. Reluctant at first, she fully embraced being there. Cremation has taken place and we will celebrate her wonderful life June 18th, 2019. Flowers are gratefully declined but if you so wish, donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choosing. The family would like to thank the people of Selkirk for always taking the time to greet mom when she was out and about, the staff at Red River for their compassion and care of mom these last 6 years and to family and friends that visited her. Thank you Dr. Lindenschmidt. We are so appreciative of Christina Kabernik whose love and companionship was a great comfort. Condolences, photos and videos may be left on her tribute wall at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. 13311265
