It was with great sadness that I learned earlier this evening that Garnet passed away on August 1. As his parliamentary assistant from 1981-84, we spent more than three wonderful years working together. He was one of the most principled, honest people I have ever known and was always anxious to help constituents, regardless of their political stripe. Rest in peace my friend - you have earned it.

I was so sorry to read that Garnett had passed. We had many great times and memories at Central Baptist Church. My condolences, thoughts and prayers to Garnett’s family.

I was raised at Central Baptist until my early teens and heard of the Bloomfield families many times. Perhaps 30 years ago I locked the keys in my car at a Centennial Hall concert - Garnet and Mildred walked by and noticed my distress - at the time he didn't know of our association to Central but offered to drive mom and I home to get another key and back. I will never forget his kindness. Blessings to the family, Joy
