Adelaide Margaret Urquhart Brown

BROWN, Adelaide Margaret Urquhart - In the morning of February 21, surrounded by her loving family, Adelaide slipped the surly bonds of earth. Born in 1928 in Glasgow, Adelaide was the beloved daughter of James and Margaret Urquhart. As a young woman, she caught the eye of Alexander Brown, who declared the instant that he saw her that she was the only woman for him. He knew his own heart as they were married in 1951 and would have been married for 67 years this year. In 1960, they began their new life in Canada where over the next several decades, their family grew to produce first, second and third generation Canadians. Adelaide is survived by her children Margaret Tracey (John), Jane Kopp, and Ewan Brown (Janet). An avid knitter, Adelaide’s grandchildren - Alastair, Adelaide, Adam, Brandon, Olivia, Tristan and Simon were the fortunate recipients of her many knitted creations. Her great grandchildren were fortunate to have spent time with “old gran” and her room was often decorated with the creations of Ayden, Owen, Elle, Grayson, Scarlette, Dorian, Camden, and even baby Emma. We will miss Adelaide’s strong and loving presence. She was greatly loved. Fear no more the heat o’the sun, Nor furious winter rages; Thou thy worldly task hast done, Home art gone and ta’en thy wages: Golden lads and girls all must, As chimney sweepers, come to dust. - Cymbeline In keeping with Adelaide’s wishes, there will be no visitation and a private service will be held for her immediate family. Donations in Adelaide’s name can be made to Sick Kids Hospital.13255338
