Henriette Mahieu

MAHIEU, Henriette - It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Henriette (De Geytere) Mahieu of Delhi, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe at the age of 85. She has been reunited in heaven with her late husband, Jacques (Jan. 2012), and her dear son, Serge, (Dec. 1990). Cherished and devoted mother of Jackie (Jim) Clement, Jeannine (Paul) Krupicz and Yvette Mahieu (John Walker). Loved grandma of Christine Ferrell, Jennifer (Matt) Malcolm, Jessica (Scott) Walker and Jason Krupicz. Precious great-grandma of Bailey and Hannah Ferrell, and Brynn and Kinsley Walker. Dearest sister of Rose-Anne (Daniel) Wyseure and Liliane (Willy) Michiels of Belgium. Born in Wervik, West Flanders, Belgium, she immigrated to Canada with her husband and infant son in 1952. Henriette was a kind and selfless woman and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was an excellent cook and always had a good supply of Belgian chocolate and pastry on hand just in case somebody dropped in for a visit. Mom was our quiet strength and more than anything, she loved her family. We will miss her immensely. What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. Friends called at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 for visitation on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and for Parish Prayers at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Henriette to the Haldimand-Norfolk Alzheimer Society or the Delhi Cemetery Beautification Fund will be gratefully appreciated by the family. “Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.” 13242626
