Morley Ernest Yon

YON, Morley Ernest - Member of the Air Force Association of Canada and the Quarter Century Club of the Ontario Provincial Government Passed away peacefully with Mary & Serena by his side on Friday October 13, 2017 in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Gladdy (nee Letherby) Yon. Predeceased by his parents Ed and Catherine Yon, and by his seven siblings- John, Fred, Arthur, Elmer, Darcy, Robert Yon and Teresa Elliott. Also predeceased by best friends Lorne Letherby and Sandy Adkin. Morley will be fondly remembered by his companion and caregiver, Mary Sheriff. Also greatly missed by his loyal cat Serena. Morley was born in Rosemount and schooled in Waubaushene. After a stint in the Air Force during WWII, he continued his education at the University of Toronto as an accountant and statistician, he worked for various firms and later became an Ontario government employee working in the greater Toronto area and in the parliament buildings. Later he worked in Orillia, Gravenhurst and Edgar. Upon returning to the Coldwater area, he greatly enjoyed his time at Gloucester pool at “Doc” Leatherdale’s cottages as well as at Little Banf in Orr Lake. Most of his retirement was caring for others, gardening; church activities at St. Andrew’s and polished his golden Lincoln town car (a bucket list item) Morley will be respectfully remembered for his good advice, gentleness, kindness and generosity. Friends will be received at CARSON FUNERAL HOMES – JH Lynn Chapel , 290 First Street, Midland (705) 526-6551 on Saturday October 28, 2017 from 10am till time of Memorial service in the chapel at 11am. Memorial donations to the Salvation army food bank and the First Presbyterian church building fund in Penetang. Sad to hear of his passing. I fondly remember Morley when I worked at Sears in Midland and he would come in to show me old post cards he collected over the years. Mostly pictures about old Orillia. He was a very kind man and I thought about him often. My condolences to his family.

Remembering Morley when we worked together in Orillia as a true gentleman. I learned a lot of history from Morley when we rode together to work in the winters.
