Donald Fuller

FULLER, Donald - Dr. Donald Ralph Fuller, 89, died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 6, 2017, at Richmond Woods Retirement Residence, London. Don was a wonderful Christian man and role model who, inspired by his beloved wife Laurene, came closer to God by attending church regularly for as long as he could and leading a life of faith. His family and friends are proud of all the good he did in this world and take solace in knowing that his soul will now join the love of his life and wife of 65 years. Throughout his life, Don was able to fulfill his strong desire to help others by practicing medicine. He served as a family physician in Tavistock for nearly twenty years and later as an internal medicine specialist in Stratford until 1998. Following his retirement at the age of 72, Don continued to show a passion for lifelong learning, whether by studying alongside his grandchildren, teaching himself Braille or reading an English translation of the Quran. He is loved and will be missed by Dr. John Fuller and his wife Dr. Mary Eisenhauer (their children Ross and Katherine); Mark and his wife Patricia (Varriano) Fuller (their children Sara and Michael); Mary and her husband Christopher Woolf (their children Riley; Jade and husband Chris Buchanan and their family Jensen, Cailin, Ashtyn, Kyla; Leah and her husband Marshall Graves and (their children Harper and Claire); Dr. Donald M. and his wife Connie (Duynisveld) Fuller (their children Corben, Gradon, Jack); sisters-in-law Charmaine Wilcox and Rowena Van Seters. He was predeceased by his wife Laurene Lucille Fuller, his daughter Joan Elizabeth Fuller; his sister-in-law Shirley Boughen and brothers-in-law Dr. Fred Boughen, Geoffrey Wilcox and Art Van Seters. Special thanks to Dr. Bill McKeough and CCAC Nurse Sam for the excellent care and compassion they provided. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, on Sunday, April 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A service to celebrate Don's life will be held in St. James Anglican Church, 41 Mornington Street, Stratford, on Monday, April 10 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Lorne Mitchell will officiate. Interment in St. James "God's Holy Acre" will follow cremation. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Threshold Ministries or Stratford General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and may be made through the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME by calling 1-519-655-2431.13162708

Don was truly an inspiration to me when I was a young physician starting at Stratford General Hospital in 1989. He was always helpful and exceptionally competent and caring.

A good man

I met Don when he decided to recycle himself as an internist and applied for a position as a resident at Western's Department of Internal Medicine. For me, and for us, it was a unique pleasure to work with an individual who was so well rounded in humanity, empathy, good humour, and intelligence. It was not obvious who was teaching whom, but we had a wonderful experience. He was a great gift to the profession, and to those who knew him. He will be remembered with fondness and gratitude.
