William "Bill" (VE3APT) Cherwinsk

CHERWINSK, William "Bill" (VE3APT) - It is with profound sadness that the family of William Cherwinsk announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 in his 92nd year. He is reunited with his beloved wife Iva (1995). Devoted father of Linda Picard (Robert), Alma Bergie (Richard), John Cherwinsk (Linda), Joanne Gennings (Neil), Larry Cherwinsk (Bonita) and Ross Cherwinsk (Gabriella). He leaves behind fond memories for his 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his grandson James Cherwinsk, sister Victoria Kaskieu, sister Mary Chopiak and her husband Bill, brother Walter and his wife Joyce. Bill was a Veteran of WWII and worked for Direct Winters Transport for over 40 years. He had a passion for life-long learning and remained an active HAM Radio Operator until his final days. His Church was a very important part of Bill's life and he was always willing to serve wherever and whenever he was needed. Above all else, he loved his large family and was immensely proud of each and every one of them. The family will receive friends at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Tuesday, June 28th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held in the Cudney Chapel on Wednesday, June 29th at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. We always felt blessed to have good neighbours in Iva , Bill and family. We were saddened to hear of Bill passing away. We shared many a laughter listening to Bill's tell tales. Our sincere condolences to all of cousin Bill's family. I fondly remember our camping and fishing trips. Those were good times. Many happy memories. Rest in Peace Bill. You raised a good family.
