Barry Alfred Hiscocks

HISCOCKS, Barry Alfred - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Hiscocks, on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, after a brave, year-long battle with lung cancer. He fought the disease vigorously until the end, and even Monday, while in grave health and struggling to breathe, still talked about getting himself "fixed up and back home." He waited until he was surrounded by his son and daughter-in-law Jeremy and Martha Hiscocks and son Steven Galbraith (Trevor Bracher) before finally and peacefully letting go of the fight. Also by his side in his last hours was his partner Cathy Justus, great friends Dr. Dave Satram, Dr. Susie Sioutis, and John and Virginia Kinchsular. Cherished "papa" of Logan Hiscocks. Survived by Lesley Winninger. Predeceased by his parents Carmen and Marie Hiscocks. He will be greatly missed by his dear friends far and near to whom we are forever grateful. We thank everyone at Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit, the London Cancer Clinic, and Ups and Downs (his home away from home) for their unwavering care and support through this journey. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Barry's Life will be held at his building: 201 Front Street North, Sarnia on Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at 11:00 am. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care or Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME , 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Was always fun running into Barry in the hallway or elevator. A great guy with a great sense of humour. He amazed us with his positive attitude through his battle with cancer. Hour thoughts and prayers to his family.
To a good man.

Dear Jeremy and family. I was very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I had confidence in Barry that he might be able to beat this or at least hold it off for several years. I knew your dad for many years and had come to respect him and admire him. I think I enjoyed our meetings more than he did. I will miss him very much but am glad that I had the opportunity to see him before his passing and before my trip.
