Condolences
Posted by Bryan Card (Former Student) On Monday, April 20, 2015
I am saddened to read of Dr. Mellon's passing in the King's Herald. Hugh was most generous of both guidance and knowledge in his time at King's, and was a favourite professor of political science but it is his good humour and pleasant smile that remain in my memory. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
A Wise and Gentle Soul
Posted by Brian Ebel (Friend and Former Student) On Wednesday, August 27, 2014
Hugh was my TA at Queen's in 1986, before he became Dr. Mellon. We also lived together in Ottawa in the summer of 1990 when he worked for a Royal Commission. I remember his incredible wealth of knowledge about Canadian politics, and I also know that this self-styled "poor kid from Moncton" was kind, thoughtful and friendly to everybody. He repeatedly annihilated me in chess, but was always encouraging and never made me feel the humilation that was my due. He was that kind of a gentle soul.
I remember
Posted by Jerome Donahue (First cousin) On Saturday, August 16, 2014
I remember spending time with Hugh growing up. He was a Leafs fan, I liked the Habs. He liked the Conservatives and I liked the Liberals. We always got along and I can't remember a time when we ever got mad at each other. We didn't stay in touch as we should have but as I write this condolence, I miss him already. I'm glad I was your cousin.

Jerome
