PATAKY After a valiant battle with cancer and with his loving family at his side at Bluewater Health Palliative Care on June 24, 2004, WILLIAM "BILL" ANDREW PATAKY age 74 of Sarnia. Bill was born & raised in Windsor, Ontario. William was a 1957 graduate of the University of Windsor. He taught in Lambton County at the secondary school level, teaching physical education and coaching at several Sarnia High Schools. Bill retired as the Principal of Alexander Mackenzie School in 1986. Bill's five daughters recently inducted him into their own personal "Hall of Fame". He was an avid sports fan and a noted athlete in all sports throughout high school, university and his life. Bill represented the Canadian Olympic Basketball Team in 1952. This was an honour and a very special event in his life. Survived by loving wife and dearest friend Joan Monaghan for 50 years. Loving father of Maureen Young Ray and children Tania, Amy and Laura of Pt. Edward, Joanne Pataky Faye, Monica Stensland Aaron and children Joey and Matthew, Margaret Harpelle Brian and children Kurtis and James, and Jane Schinnour Gary and children Billy, Jordan and Sarah all of Calgary. Bill was a devoted "Papa" to all of his grandchildren. Also survived by brother Stephen Virge Pataky of Windsor, several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Special "Papa Bill" to MaryJane & Mike Franchuck's boys. Len Desjardins 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church Charlesworth at Lecaron Ave., Sarnia. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
