FARENHORST, Jan (Robertson) - September 17, 1953 November 28, 2013 Jan was a loving wife to Dick, and a devoted mother to her three children; Stephanie, David (1986–1988) and James. Born in Kenora Ontario, Jan was raised by a loving family of parents Ken (Sugar) and Florence, along with siblings Beth Vaudry (John, Karen, Mark and Linnea) and Bruce (Kerry-Dell, Ken and Michael). She graduated Lakewood Secondary School in 1972 and received her Registered Nurse designation from Stratford School of Nursing. Throughout her career she worked in neonatal care and obstetrics, a field suited to her passion for mothers and babies. Jan truly cared about her lifework, and all of the relationships she developed with both co-workers and patients. Following travels through Europe, North Africa and the Canary Islands, Jan returned to Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, eventually meeting and marrying Dick while both were employed there. Jan and Dick then moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where Dick continued his education. Returning to Canada, they settled in Langley BC, focusing on their family and careers. Jan was employed as a nurse at Surrey Memorial Hospital and later worked in their Antepartum Program. The Farenhorst family was anchored by the Willoughby Christian Reformed Church and its community. Jan enjoyed seeing new places, taking photographs, artistry of all sorts (especially Jazz), pranks, joyful people, and returning to her beloved Lake of the Woods which she so dearly missed. Most of all, Jan loved God and had an ongoing relationship with him. Words cannot describe how much Jan will be missed by her family, friends and relatives.12649785

We are deeply saddened by Jan’s passing and will always remember Jans spirit, her beautiful smile, her sense of humour and her laughter, her energy, and her zest for life. She was a beautiful light in our world. God Bless her.
