CHILTON, Ed - With great sadness we announce that Ed Chilton has passed away peacefully at his home in Port Albert on June 29, 2013. Ed leaves behind the great loves of his life, his wife Maureen (Dalton) and sons Tom and Theresa Kluge and their son Theodor, Mark, Jonathan and Adam and his special girls Stevie and her daughter Bentleigh. He is the beloved son of Elsie and the late William Chilton and brother of Robert and Betty Chilton, Susan and Elmer McLeod, Linda and Sinclair Trapper, Earl and Pearl Chilton, Patrick and Audrey Chilton, the late Bert and Harriet Chilton. Treasured son-in-law of Clarice and the late Mark Dalton and brother-in-law of Louise Martin, Denise Dalton, Ann and Bruce Pritchard, Paul and Joni Dalton, Shawn and Laurie Dalton, Bridget and the late Bernie Van Osch, Jackie and Art Simpson, Mia and John Rosario. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and godfather to Kelly Pritchard, Catherine Simpson and Shawn Moses. He was a frequent, cheerful presence to his entire extended family and a "Special Ed" to his many friends and neighbours. Ed's legacy among the innumerable lives he touched - his families of birth and marriage and the people of his northern and southern communities - is extraordinary. He had a quiet but profound impact on the establishment of agreements and enterprises benefitting First Nations peoples and their lands. He was passionate about fostering mutual respect and partnerships between the two cultures he straddled and, as one who never forgot past and present colleagues, he nurtured many special and lasting relationships. But his principal goal in life was to be a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and a caring Uncle Eddie, uniquely present to nephews and nieces who mourned the loss of their own parent. A private family gathering for prayers and remembering will take place at the Simpson home. Two community memorials will follow. All are welcome. The funeral will be in Moose Factory on Saturday, July 6 at 1:00 pm at the Community Hall. A feast (pot luck) to follow. For travel arrangements please contact Shawn Dalton at 519-529-3178 or firstname.lastname@example.org The second gathering will be at the home of Shawn and Laurie Dalton on Saturday, July 13 at 2:00 pm. Many thanks to all who supported Ed and his family in so many ways throughout this difficult time. Donations may be made to Five Nations Energy Inc., contact: www.fivenations.ca Condolences may be forwarded through the McCALLUM AND PALLA FUNERAL HOME website at www.mccallumpalla.ca12491561

I only knew Ed on the phone and still got to know him well enough, he was forthcoming and knowledgeable on many subjects, knew his people and their territory, made the world a better place for it in various tangible and long-serving ways.
Goodbye to a Friend
