KAIPAINEN, Sirkka Kyllikki (nee Kujala) - In loving memory of Sirkka Kyllikki Kaipainen (nee Kujala) 86 years Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Health Sciences North. Beloved wife of Antti “Andy“ Kalervo predeceased 2008. Loving mother of John Kaipainen (Jo Ann Uline) of Ottawa, Anita Rautiainen (Brian Rautiainen) and Doris Kaipainen (Doug Horner) both of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Erin Kaipainen (Mark Everaert) of Calgary, Maija Kaipainen (Tom Cowdrey) of Manchester, England, Patrick Kaipainen (Lindsie Canton) of Toronto, Evan Rautiainen (Maxime Rautiainen) of Camarillo, California, Heather Rautiainen (Patrick McInally) of Simcoe and Taylor Maki of Toronto. Great grandmother of Jonas Rautiainen. Also great grandmother of Carter Rose Rautiainen (predeceased 2011). Dear daughter of Otto and Lydia (Savolainen) Kujala both predeceased. Dear sister of Aimo Kujala predeceased. Deeply missed by relatives in Finland. Aiti, Mummo, Iso-Mummo, was a kind and gentle soul whose family was the center of her life. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born in Kylmäkoski, Finland, she and Dad immigrated to Canada in 1952 and built a good life together, building a home in Waters Township, with beautiful flower gardens and a yearly vegetable garden, as well as building a cottage on Lake Agnew which they enjoyed for many years with family and friends, where they liked to pick blueberries and fish. She was a very hard worker and an excellent cook, and enjoyed baking, sewing, needlepoint and knitting. Mom was a self taught accordionist who came from a musical family. Many a Sunday afternoon was spent with visiting friends enjoying coffee with a well laden table of Finnish baking, as well as listening to her accordion music. As a young girl Mother aided in the evacuation of material and agricultural stock from Karalia to western Finland in 1940. A story that she related to us with much enthusiasm and amusement. Later in 1944 Mother worked on preparation of defensive positions for the Finnish Army in face of impending enemy attack. For her active participation in the war effort Mother was decorated for her role in the salvation of Finland's Independence. The family would like to thank the staff of Finlandia Village, for their fine care, especially Tiina, Allison, and Kim, Dr. de Blacam, and the nursing staff of 5 South, Health Sciences North, especially Alex, Trish, Anita, Liz, Meghan, and the fourth year nursing students for their professional and compassionate care in helping to make mom's final hours more comfortable. Thank- you to Reverend Vihtori Leskela for his prayers at Mom's bedside, and his compassion and service. “On tuska, sairaus, kyyneleet naa, sun kohdaltas ohi kaikki taa, Nyt aurinko kirkas ja lampinen On paistava sulle ikuinen. Taivaankotiin enkeli sylissaan kantaa, Ei kukaan nyt huolissaan olla saa, Siella on Jumalan kaunis maa.“ Funeral Service in the R. J. Dear John, Anita, Doris and families.
It is with great sorrow that we heard of Sirkka's passing. We first met Sirkka and Antti upon arriving from Finland and they were the best of neighbours and friends. Unfortunately Eila and I are out of the country and unable to be with you at the funeral. Our deepest sympathy. Eila and Niilo Saari and family.

Dear John, Anita, Doris and families;
I am extending my condolences on the loss of your Mother, a very special lady. I recall winter time Saturday night saunas, with treats afterward, strawberry cake with whipped cream for special occasions during the summer, leisure time spent at local lakes swimming and fishing, accordian music and always a welcoming cheerful generous smile.
I hope you find the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
With sympathy, Irene and family.
