GALLAGHER, Nancy Carolyn - 62 years. “Life is a journey, not a destination.“ That was Nancy's favourite saying. Nancy died Tuesday February 12 2013 after a very short but very determined battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and friends while resting peacefully at home. Nancy was a loving, caring, funny, supportive Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 39 years Jack. When she was diagnosed with cancer the first thing she said was “I won't be able to celebrate our 40th anniversary.“ It would have been June 2, 2013. While raising her three children Scott, Stephanie and Carrie Ann (husband Glen) she was very proud of the fact that she was able to be a stay-at-home Mom. She will be greatly missed by her brother Dr. Ronald Scott (Wife Pauline) and her sister Catherine Scott (Husband Glenn) and her precious grandchildren Ashtyn Patrick Gallagher, Madison Paige Marshall and Iona Grace Franklin. A very caring and well respected social worker with the Children's Aid Society and later the City of Sudbury. Nancy unfortunately had to leave her beloved career early, due to illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Ray Sawkiw, her family doctor for always being there for her. Dr. Kim Tilbe and Dr. Fredrick Wright for helping her deal with her Crohns disease and finally all the professionals at the North East Cancer Centre, CCAC and Bayshore for allowing us to keep Nancy at home with us during her journey. A special big thank you to Gabby her nurse who was always there for both Nancy and her Family. At Nancy's request there will be no service or visitation. She will be cremated and true to her request we will sprinkle her ashes at each of her special places, Manitoulin Island, McFarlane Lake and Lake Muskoka. She will be interred at the Burpee Mills cemetery on Manitoulin Island, where she will join Uncle Brian and assist him in watching over our family and the beach. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a future date. Donations to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME.
