GOODWIN, Josephine Theresa (nee Smith) - With loving thoughts we remember Josephine Theresa Goodwin. She passed away peacefully in Portage la Prairie December 27, 2012. Prayers will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, January 2, 2013 at 7:00 PM. There will be no formal funeral service and cremation will take place. Interment will take place at a later date in Massachusetts. Born in Boston Massachusetts June 19, 1932 she is survived by her six children, Michael Goodwin and wife Audrey of Rutland, Vermont, Stephen Goodwin and wife Melodee of Blackfalds, AB, Wayne Goodwin and wife Lauraleah of Calgary, AB, Deborah Goodwin and Scott of Portage La Prairie, MB, Mary Dixon of Calgary, AB, Ann Sparda of Weymouth, Massachusetts. Josephine is also survived by niece Diane Murdoch of Calgary, AB. and close family friend Wayne Gerry of Winnipeg, MB, as well as twelve grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Josephine lived a full and loving life, graduating as a nurse's aide in Boston in 1966. Later moving to Canada with her six children in 1970 to New Brunswick and then to Calgary. In her later years she worked as a bookkeeper in various locations in Manitoba, finally settling in Portage La Prairie, MB. Josephine was at her happiest spending time with her many grand children and great grand children smiling and enjoying fond memories and playful times. Through life's tougher adversities Josephine always kept her faith in the Lord. A loving mother and cherished friend, we now ask the Lord to take and keep her safe. Go in peace, we love and miss you today and always. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
