THOMPSON, David B - With great sorrow, the family announces the passing of David, on November 8, 2010 at the age of 60. Father of Caylex and Kinnery of London, ON and Jazmin Matson (grandchildren Gabriel, Michael, Rhyan) of Oshawa. He will be missed by his brothers James, Ken, Daniel and sisters Cynthia, Susan and Shellie. Predeceased by his parents, his sister Sherrie and his Aunt Elaine. Born in Kapuskasing, on April 4, 1950. During the 1970's and 80's, David enjoyed a successful career as a country music singer. He was featured on The Tommy Hunter Show, and was nominated for Best New Male Artist in the Canadian Country Music Awards. He also had songs on the country music charts. As a travelling musician, he was based out of Thunder Bay and during his final years he resided in Aylmer. He will be remembered by friends, coworkers and loyal fans. In lieu of flowers a donation to The Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held at 3pm, December 5, 2010 at the Dorchester United Church 4100 Catherine Street, Dorchester, ON, 519-268-3154. So sad to learn of David's passing. Got to know him during my radio days in the late 70's and into the 80's. He was a great guy - loved his voice/music and the all fun times we spent jamming on acoustic guitars after dinner at my place. "Cave In" was my favourite song.
