Mary Ann Taylor

TAYLOR, Mary Ann - On Friday, March 1, 2019 Mary Ann Taylor, extraordinary wife and mother of three children, passed away at age 76, in Merida, Mexico. Mary Ann was born on November 15, 1942, in St. Thomas, Ontario to John and Dorothy (Ion) Duckworth. She grew up in St. Thomas, before marrying Charles Taylor on June 29, 1964. Chuck and Mary Ann lived in Winnipeg, Ottawa, St. Thomas, and Sparta, before retiring to Muskoka and Merida, Mexico. She worked as a secretary, and as a homemaker. She actively participated in numerous construction projects, renovating and building homes and cottages. She travelled widely, camping across Canada and the US, boating the Trent-Severn, and visiting many countries in the Caribbean and Europe. She and Chuck raised three children: Carrie, Chris, and Cathy (Teel). Mary Ann was also proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Taylor and Dax Van Velzer, Cameron and Carson Teel, and Cullen and Charli Taylor. Mary Ann was a kind, gentle soul, who was fiercely loyal to friends and family. Her watercolour paintings of inspiring Muskoka landscapes grace the homes of family, friends, and some paying patrons. Her baked goods, including soybean bread, butter tarts, chelsea buns, and pizza, were legendary. She was most at peace near calm water at the cottage, but she also cherished busy gatherings at her homes in Muskoka and Mexico. She was intensely loved and cherished by her husband and children. Mary Ann truly loved, lived, laughed, and learned, every day throughout her life. Mary Ann is preceded by her mother, Dorothy, and father, John Duckworth. She is deeply mourned by her husband of 54 years, Charles, her children and grandchildren, her brother Bill Duckworth, and many, many friends and relatives. Resting at WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME , 45 Elgin Street, St.Thomas where funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11th, 2019 at 11:00am. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. I grew up knowing this kind lady. She was always nice. Very helpful. Went out of her way to help at her job as a secretary. Gone but not forgotten
