C. Frederick “Fred” Lochhead

LOCHHEAD, C. Frederick “Fred” - Of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, in his 91st year. Beloved husband for 61 years to the late Sheila (née Palmer) Lochhead (2013). Dearly loved father of Kathy Kewley (Harold) of St. Thomas, Gregory Lochhead of Osoyoos, BC, Karen Walton (Robert) of Embro, and Chris Lochhead (Tamara) of Westbridge, BC. Proud grandfather of Dr. Kathryn Walton-Venus (Dr. Kevin Venus), Emily Walton (Jack Doris), and Rachel Walton. Also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Hinch, and by a brother, Herb Lochhead. Born in Centreville, ON, June 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Donald and Mabel (née Lewis) Lochhead. Fred was a retired pharmacist with Ayerst-Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. He was a former active member for over 50 years of the St. Thomas Curling Club, an enthusiastic golfer at the Belmont Golf Club, and was an accomplished bowler. Fred was also an avid reader and gardener. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) at a later date. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario will be gratefully acknowledged. Fred was my Skip when I stared curling with the St.Thomas Seniors. He always spoke to me when we met. He was always the first one to put his name down to golf when I looked after a "curler-golf" day. He was gentleman.
