John "Jack" Darlington

DARLINGTON, John "Jack" - Of Wyecombe, passed away at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital with his loving family and friends at his side, on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in his 91st year. Jack coached the Wyecombe Minx baseball team to winning many games, an achievement of which he was so proud. He loved playing cards and was an avid Casino patron who never passed an empty chair at the “Let it Ride” table. His favourite pastime every Christmas, was being rich Uncle Pennybags, the banker, in the Monopoly game which he challenged his beloved children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews into the wee hours of the morning. Jack enjoyed his daily ritual of Tim Horton’s, where he sat drinking his coffee and chatting with all of his friends. He was very proud of his Appreciation Award from The Lakeshore Shopper. He was a devoted husband of the love of his life, Elizabeth "Liz" (Ripski) Darlington for 61 years. Loving father of Laurie Thomson (Marc), Sandra Mattan (Darrell) and Steven Darlington (Janette). Cherished grandfather of six grandchildren: Jennifer (Craig), Johanna (Bill), Victoria (Kyle), Andrew (Taylor), Taylor (Nicolina), Didi (Justin) and seven great grandchildren: Jaden, Jaxon, Kaleb, Kaden, Kyler, Kwynn and Aylvia. Dearest brother of Joyce Owen (Late Arthur), Sally Botzang (Late Frank) and Barbara Rauscher (Kurt). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, in-laws as well as his best friend, Bob Wardell. Predeceased by his brother Bill Darlington (Late Adeline) and by his two sisters: Elsie Darlington and Dorothy Kusch (Late Patrick). The compassion and support of the Doctors and Nurses of the Tillsonburg Hospital was greatly appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place. There was a Celebration of Life Service at MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519)-582-1290 on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with a Private Inurnment in Wyecombe Cemetery to follow. Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or V.O.N. Sakura House will be gratefully appreciated by the family.13311811
