Nenita Matias Dunbar

DUNBAR, Nenita Matias - September 16, 1960 - Camalaniugan, Philippines September 7, 2018 - Airdrie, Alberta Nita beloved wife of William Dunbar of Airdrie, AB, passed away peacefully at home, with her husband, mother and family by her side on September 7, 2018 at the age of 57 years. Nita started her struggle with Brain Cancer (Glioblastoma) in January of 2017, taking all of the treatments available, fighting all of the way, while still enjoying life as much as possible, until answering God's call. She was the second born child of Arsenio and Placida Matias who raised a wonderful family of three girls and two boys. After finishing school. Nita worked as a Live-in Caregiver in the Philippines and Singapore. In 1990 she successfully immigrated to Whitehorse ,Yukon, in the same field of employment working for several families. In the fall of 1994 Nita brought her skills to the Dunbar household to look after them as they had just experiences two major tragedies. She stayed with the family when they relocated to Airdrie, Alberta during the summer of 1996. Bill and Nita were happily married April 24, 1999. After the wedding they moved to Brazil, living in Rio De Janerio just off the beach in Leblon. What a year touring all over the country from the Amazon to the southern tip. Returning to Canada after the job was completed, they travelled together to difference provinces all over Canada, and the Northern and mid USA. She loved to take pictures of their travels and collecting souvenirs and memories from places they've been. Nita also enjoyed gardening during the summertime and having lots of flowers and veggies in her backyard. She was organized and always busy putting things away or cleaning. Nita was a person of great faith, family oriented, generous and the kindest person you could ever meet. Nita was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all, and is deeply missed. She is survived by her loving husband Bill Dunbar; her mother Placida; stepsons, Stephen, Rob, Bob and Greg; Stepdaughters, Angela, Ditas and Krista; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Cameron, Clayton Hannah, Ben, Bryan, Megan, Sabine, Josephine, Madisen and Mercedes; her sisters Rosario Jacob and Nila De Asis; her brothers Rogelio and Benjamin Matias; and her nieces and nephews, Althea, Leainie, Oliver, Audrey, Mervin, Aina, Myleen, Ariane, Grace, Ronil, Greg, Jaron and Junior. She was predeceased by her father Arsenio Matias. Relatives and friends are invited to Viewing and Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, AB) on September 24, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at ST. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, (1305 Main St. Airdrie AB), on September 25, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with Reception to follow at St. Paul's. The Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 P.M., at Airdrie Cemetery (33 Big Hill Way SE). I just came across this. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear wife. I am so glad that we had an opportunity to meet her several years ago. Please know that you will be in my prayers.
