Jack Ronald Whetung

WHETUNG, Jack Ronald - Passed away at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday February 19, 2018. Jack Whetung of Curve Lake in his 77th year. Jack began working as a tool & die maker with Fisher Gauge and later at Outboard Marine in Peterborough. He was a well-respected Police Officer at Curve Lake for over 30 years. Jack owned and operated Curve Lake Marina and was very involved with other family businesses that he had started over the years. Loved and missed by his wife Donna Whetung (nee Farrow) and his children Londa Whetung-Watson (Jeff), Ronald Whetung (Rosetta), Lisa Whetung (Brad) and Lloyd Whetung (Janice), all of Curve Lake. Grandpa is remembered by Mitchell Fawn (Meghan), Alicia McCready (Michael), Kayla Cabate (Carlo), Ashley Hinze (Christopher Bolton), Alexa, Celina & Jordan Whetung and Dainna Taylor. Dear great grandpa of Michael, Sophia, Jackson, Luke, Veronica, Jazmyn, Levi, Dominick and Ava. Survived by his brothers Mel Jacobs (Beth), Ken Jacobs (the late Sandy), Lionel Jacobs (Debbie), Leland Jacobs (Donna), his sister Kathy Knott and brother-in-law Winston Taylor. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Floyd & Dorothy, step-father Dalton Jacobs, sisters Arlene Taylor, Wilma Jacobs-Taylor and brother Willard Jacobs. Friends and relatives may call at the CURVE LAKE CHURCH on Friday February 23, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and the family are pleased that the Ontario Provincial Police and the Anishinabek Police Service Honour Guard will be present at the funeral service which will be held at the church on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Jack was in the first group of native Special Constables trained by OPP Aylmer facility as the first Police to return to their own Native Reserves of duty. Jack was also the oldest of this first group. He served as Constable and then Police Sargent for the Anishinabek Police Service at Curve Lake from 1976 - 2006. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment Curve Lake Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Curve Lake Community Centre.
