LATTA, Geraldine “Gerry” Helen (Glidden) - It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Gerry Latta at Bluewater Health on Monday, February 12, 2018, surrounded by her family at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Raymond Latta for 55 years. Loving mother to Dale (Dawn) and Todd (Jennifer) Latta. Caring grandmother to Brooke, Brett, Cameron and Andrew Latta. Remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helen Glidden and her sisters Betty (Jack) Osborne, Audrey (Bill) Calder and Rita (Les) Lea. Gerry was a teacher with the Lambton Kent District School Board. She volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, Inn of the Good Shepherd Food Bank, and by reading to ESL students. Gerry enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and bridge and loved art, especially painting. A special thank you to Dr. Taylor, Dr. Maddison, and the staff of Bluewater Health for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME , 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Grand Bend Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care or the Inn of the Good Shepherd (cheques only at the funeral home please). It is appropriate that Mrs. Latta passed away in Heart and Stroke month; a charity with which I long associated her. My sympathy to her relatives and friends.

Sorry to hear of Gerry’s passing. She was a dedicated volunteer for Diabetes Canada & I always enjoyed our talks while walking under the bridge. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

So sorry to learn of Gerry's passing. We fondly remember her as enjoying dancing and good fun. She will be missed at bridge.
