John Martin Ellison

ELLISON, John Martin - It is with profound sadness that the family announce that John Martin Ellison FRCS (England and Canada), of Fonthill, died in his 78th year on September 13th, 2017 at the Welland Hospital with his loving wife of 51 years, Anne, at his side. Martin is predeceased by his parents, Jack and Daphne, and his sisters, Rosamund and Marian. Martin is survived by his wife, sons Andrew and David, and his grandchildren Albert, Madeleine, Alexander and Peter. He served his family and the Niagara Region with love, dedication and humour. He practised medicine for over 40 years, including 27 years of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Welland Hospital. He was also a fine athlete, musician and scholar. He was dearly loved, and will be deeply missed. His funeral will be Tuesday September 19th at 11 am at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 33 Queenston St., St. Catharines. Our deepest condolences to the family and friends. We first met Dr. Ellison 41 years ago when I was expecting my first child, he told great care of me during all my pregnancies. He was a good man and a great doctor. He will always be remembered.

So sorry to hear of Dr. Ellison's passing. He was a caring, compassionate and kind. He delivered my 2 sons, and was always willing to share a little of himself when you spoke to him. My sympathies to his family.

So sorry to hear of Martin's passing. He was a prince of a gentleman, a masterful and caring surgeon, a formidable tennis opponent, an accomplished bassoonist and one of the wittiest guys I've met.
