Raymond Crew

CREW, Raymond F., 82, of Wallingford, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville. He was the beloved husband of Barbara L. (Jones) Crew for over 60 years. Ray was born in Collingwood, Dec. 30, 1934, a son of the late Fred and Muriel (Kennedy) Crew. He played professional hockey for 16 years in the EHL, QHL, WHL and the IHL, including three years with the New Haven Blades. He went on to coach the Sheehan High Schools boys hockey team for 27 years. Ray also was an assistant coach of the girls' soccer team, and was involved in many community sports programs. Ray loved and enjoyed his family, his Canadian heritage and upbringing, and spending time at the island and Georgian Bay. In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his children, Kimberly Buongirno and her husband Frank, Bruce Crew his wife, Beth, and Sheri Molampy and her husband, Stephen; his grandchildren, Michaela Moore and her husband Jackson, Kyle Crew and his wife Katie, Brendan Crew, Anna Crew, Garrett Molampy and Addison Molampy; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Benson Moore; his sister Barbara Backmeier and he husband, George; sister-in-law Emily Crew; and many nieces and nephews.
