1948 Messages To John November 8

Messages to John November 8, 1948 - August 3, 2014 We miss you in the everyday little things - This winter Katherine and Michael met coincidentally at the clinic. Both had sore throats, and Michael said, "I just wanted Dad to come up with one of his remedies" and Katherine piped back, "That's what I woke up thinking!" And, at long last, your closet was put in order. Who would have known that two thirds of the things belonged to other members of the family? You were the minimalist, and we took advantage of the extra storage area. The stapler was acting up at the print shop, and even without hesitating I thought, "We'll have to call John". The orchid that the Women's Institute gave me in your memory continues to bloom beautifully in the south window, but I miss the pussy willows you brought home every spring. And we miss you in the everyday big things- Well, you know what this is going to be about… Hal Phillip would have been a bear when the Leafs got into the play-offs. But then he would have eased off when they lost. No Stanley Cup this year, but as the farmers always say - next year. We signed up Matthew for hockey on his fourth birthday! People often ask how we are doing, with a special kindness in their eyes, but what they are really asking is how are we doing without you. Fine, thank you. Love and prayers, Mikki and the Kids13198048
