DUHIG, MICHAEL 1953-2010 With great sadness we regret to announce the passing of Charles Michael Duhig on January 9, 2010 at his home in Orillia. His last days were spent with his loving family by his side; wife Charlene Duhig (Marshall), sons Mitchell and Marshall, parents Peggy and Clair, brother David (Yvonne) of Whitby, sister Karen McCullough (Tom) of Toronto, and sister Lisa Duhig (Scott Hewitt) of Richmond Hill; and nephews and nieces John and Janet Duhig and Kate and Ben McCullough. Michael was born and raised in Toronto. He was “discovered“ at the age of 10 by chance and appeared in a CCM bicycle advertisement. From there he went on to appear in hundreds of ads for Eatons and Simpsons, as well as numerous television commercials. Michael acted in two television series. The first, Almost Home, documented the travels of a young man (Michael) on a journey of discovery of his country and himself. Many will also remember his role as Ernest in the popular series Swiss Family Robinson in the1970's. MIchael also hosted many entertainment events in and around Toronto. He became a radio disc jockey in Kitchener, which expanded to years of deejaying for community and corporate events, weddings and parties. At the same time Michael worked first with his father in the family insurance brokerage, and then as a broker and vice-president with OME municipality insurers. He will always be remembered for his kindness to others, his quick wit and outgoing personality, and most of all his love for his wife Charlene and his sons Mitchell and Marshall. As he expressly wished, there will be no funeral. Later in the spring there will be a celebration of his life at the Orillia Branch of the Army, Navy and Air Force Club for all his friends and family. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so through a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 48 Alliance Blvd, Unit 207, Barrie, ON L4M 5K3, or online at www.heartandstroke,ca. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wm. Tillman, the nurses and the Red Cross for their compassionate care in the last weeks of Michael's life. Michael will be dearly missed. 11792385

I am sorry I never knew he passed 9 years ago. I enjoyed watching him in Swiss family Robinson as a child. I enjoyed when he was DJ at dances in Coldwater Ontario.

He will be missed. I met him at the dances he hosted.

Michael and his cast mates were. A fixture on my families television , in the mid 70's, in THE SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON. I never missed an episode. It saddens me that after many years of searching online for any clue to new projects, that I come across his obituary.

I send my most sincere sympathies to michael ' s family, may God bless you.

Mike and I were friends dating back to our radio/TV days in Kitchener. He helped me move from KW to Mississauga. We listened to the Blue Jays first-ever game in his pick-up truck en route. There were so many good times together in Coldwater. There were so many stories and all of them were great! Three years later, I learned today of Mike's passing. Man, that's sad.
